Paneer vs Cottage Cheese:

Paneer is routinely used in Indian food, but how good is it really?
Please note chart below. Paneer is high in protein and calcium, but very high in saturated fat as well.
Cottage Cheese on the other hand is low in fat and low in carb and has good levels of protein.
I eat mine directly from the jar! Cottage cheese has made an appearance on Indian supermarket shelves as well. Have a look at the nutritional labels before you make a choice.

PANEER
COTTAGE CHEESE
cPREPARATION:
Milk is heated to over 200ยบ F, and citric acid is added to coagulate milk. To make Paneer, lemon juice or vinegar are used as acids. The starting culture of yogurt is not used, as it dies at these high temperatures.

A naturally manufactured cottage cheese is made from fresh milk,   rennet and mesophilic starter culture (this would help grow 'good bacteria' which is needed in giving the cheese its flavor and aids in coagulation)
